This may be the most powerful documentary of the year. The Act of Killing follows two Indonesian death squad leaders who now proudly reenact their war crimes. Still seen as heroes in their own country, they’re oblivious to the atrocities they committed. The director describes the film as if the Nazis had won the Holocaust. Fascinating and profound, it deserves to be seen for its incredible insight into the banality of evil
